  • The Good Neighbor Energy Fund is available to any Rhode Islander who, because of temporary financial difficulty, cannot meet a month's energy expense and has not qualified for or received other energy assistance funds

  • The Fund has been operating for 26 years, having been established in 1986, and is administered by The Salvation Army.

  • The Fund has raised a total of more than $10.6 million which has assisted over 39,750 families.

  • Last year, the Good Neighbor Energy Fund helped more than 1,350 families pay an electric,
    gas or oil bill.


  • Sponsoring gas and electric companies support their respective customers' generosity through various matching and giving programs.

  • The fund raising goal for the 2011-2012 Good Neighbor Energy Fund campaign is $600,000.
