Facts
- The
Good Neighbor Energy Fund is available to any Rhode Islander
who, because of temporary financial difficulty, cannot meet
a month's energy expense and has not qualified for or received
other energy assistance funds
- The
Fund has been operating for 27 years, having been established
in 1986, and is administered by The Salvation Army.
- The
Fund has raised a total of more than $11.2 million which has
assisted over 40,500 families.
- Last
year, the Good Neighbor Energy Fund helped close to 1,000
families pay an electric,
gas or oil bill.
- Sponsoring
gas and electric companies support their respective customers'
generosity through various matching and giving programs.
- The
fundraising goal for the 2012-2013 Good Neighbor Energy
Fund campaign is $600,000.
- Last year, the Fund's corporate and charitable donations continued to grow thanks in large part to: AGI Construction; Atlantic Water Management; Arden Jewelry Manufacturing; Beacon Mutual Insurance; Capital Properties; CVS Caremark; Electric Boat; Empire Loan; Gardner Woodwrights; Hayward Industries; Hope Global; Leonard Valve Co.; Providence Place; The Rhode Island Foundation; Taylor Box Company; Textron & employees; Webster Bank; Winograd Shineland & Finkle P.C.
