Facts
- The
Good Neighbor Energy Fund is available to any Rhode Islander
who, because of temporary financial difficulty, cannot meet
a month's energy expense and has not qualified for or received
other energy assistance funds
- The
Fund has been operating for 24 years, having been established
in 1986, and is administered by The Salvation Army.
- The
Fund has raised a total of more than $9 million which has
assisted over 36,500 families.
- Last
year, the Good Neighbor Energy Fund helped more than 2,275
families pay an electric, gas or oil bill.
- Sponsoring
gas and electric companies support their respective customers'
generosity through various matching and giving programs.
- The
fund raising goal for the 2009-2010 Good Neighbor Energy
Fund campaign is $600,000.
- Last year, the Fund's corporate and charitable donations continued to grow thanks in large part to: Amgen; Amica Insurance; Bank of America; Citizens Bank; CVS Caremark Charity Classic; Goldline Controls, Inc.; GTECH; Haffenreffer Family Fund; Johnson & Wales University; Marie Keese Lelash Foundation; Panera Bread; Providence Bruins; Rhode Island Foundation; Slatersville Congregational Church; Sovereign Bank; TFC Textron and employees; and Van Beuren Charitable Foundation; Whole Foods Market.
